Dr. Annika Lückemann is a Partner in Bird & Bird’s Intellectual Property Group, representing national and international companies across all areas of intellectual property. Her practice focuses on patent litigation and strategic IP advice, particularly for clients in the life sciences, healthcare, chemistry, mechanics, and telecommunications sectors. She has extensive experience litigating before the Unified Patent Court and German courts, including invalidity actions, compulsory license proceedings, and preliminary injunctions in cross-border scenarios. Her notable casework includes the first damages request before the UPC for unjustified preliminary injunctions (NanoString/Bruker v. 10x Genomics/Harvard), successful defence of generic manufacturers in major German cases, and international patent litigation for medical device manufacturers including Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Edwards Lifesciences. She also brings deep expertise in Supplementary Protection Certificates and coordinating multi-jurisdictional patent disputes.
