Nishat Ruiter

Nishat Ruiter is General Counsel and Secretary of TED Conferences LLC, leading legal strategy across brand protection, licensing, AI risk management, and global compliance. With over two decades of experience in private practice and senior in-house roles, she is recognised for combining creative problem-solving with principled leadership.

At TED, Nishat founded TEDLaw, a global initiative reimagining legal leadership and education for the age of AI. TEDLaw equips legal professionals with five essential capacities: critical thinking, ethical reasoning, intuitive collaboration, professional identity, and AI readiness—developed in partnership with legal educators, the National Center for State Courts, and the ACC Foundation.

Nishat serves on the Media Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, is a member of the Women General Counsel Network, and was named the first Alumni-in-Residence at Delaware Law School. She speaks frequently on legal education and leadership in the AI era.
